ASTRO KIDS TUMBLING
Mini Rockets (2-3 years)
This is a 60-minute class with a target student ratio of 6:1, encourages instructor guided direction with new lesson plans weekly. There is a focus on class engagement. taking turns, listening, exploration, skill repetition and enjoyment through movement. Skills include forward rolls, log rolls, bear crawls, jumping with two feet, galloping, donkey kicks, balancing on one foot, cartwheel with hands and feet on a mat. Other skills: walking on a balance beam, holding a handstand against the wall.


Mighty Rockets (4 years)
This 60-minute class with a target student ratio of 6:1, encourages instructor guided direction with new lesson plans each week. There is a focus on class engagement, taking turns, listening, exploration, skill repetition and enjoyment through movement. This class structure is similar to our Mini Rockets, only now we focus on skill retention. The pace for Mighty Rockets is more intense and skills are more difficult and complex. Skills such as hopping on one foot, crab walks, straddle rolls, forward rolls.
Kinder Rockets (5 years)
Kinder Rockets is out most advanced group in our Astro Kids Program. This 60-minute class with a target student ratio of 6:1, encourages instructor guided direction with new lesson plans each week. There is a focus on class engagement, taking turns, listening, exploration, skill repetition and enjoyment through movement. This class structure is similar to our Mighty Rockets, only now we add focus on skill retention and skill recall. The skills taught in Kinder Rockets are preparing them to transition into our different programs once they turn 6 years. Skills such as skipping, bridge position, back roll down an incline, cartwheel, teeter totter.


TUMBLING CLASSES BY PROGRESSION
Beginner Tumbling
Pre-requisite Skills: Socially ready to participate in a group setting. This class is designed for young athletes ages 3 years to 5 years old. Athletes will begin with basic instruction on body positions for tumbling. They will also be introduced to thebasic fundamentals of cheerleading. Introductory class starts the foundation of body awareness and muscle control to progress through proper tumbling technique.
Tumbling 1
Pre-requisite Skills: Mastery of Beginner Tumbling Trained Skills: forward roll, handstand, handstand forward roll, cartwheel, round-off, front walkover, back walkover his class will teach the basic body positions through various drills and exercises as well as strength conditioning. Emphasis will be placed on perfecting the handstand, cartwheel, round-off, backbend pull up, and backbend kickover.
Tumbling 2
Pre-requisite skills: forward roll, handstand, handstand forward roll, cartwheel, round-off, front walkover, back walkover. Trained Skills: Standing back handspring, round-off back handspring. This class is focuses on cleaning and strengthening the round-off along with reviewing the basic body positions learned in Level I. They will also begin drills for standing back handsprings. Athletes will continue to work on strength drills to enhance their tumbling skills.
Tumbling 3
Pre-requisite Skills: Standing back handspring, round-off back handspring. Trained Skills: jumps to back handspring, standing back handspring series, round-off back handspring series, round- off back handspring tuck, punch fronts. This class will introduce athletes to round-off back handspring back tucks while continuing to perfect both standing and round-off back handspring’s series. Round-off back handspring series will be taught while continuing to emphasize strength and conditioning. Standing back handspring back tucks & standing back tucks will also be taught. The required skills to enroll in Level III are Round-off back handspring &standing back handspring.
Tumbling 4
Pre-requisite Skills: Standing back handspring series, round-off back handspring tuck. Trained Skills: Standing back handspring to tuck, jumps to back handspring tuck, standing two back handsprings to tuck, standing two back handsprings to layout, standing tuck, round-off back handspring layout
Tumbling 5R
Pre-requisite Skills: round-off back handspring layout, standing back handspring to layout, standing tuck. Trained Skills: running full, standing back handsprings to full, toe-touch back tuck, and combo restricted level 5 passes.
Tumbling 5W
Pre-requisite Skills: round-off back handspring full, standing back handsprings to full, toe-touch tuck. Trained Skills: Running double full, standing back handsprings to double full, standing full, toe-touch back handspring to full and combo worlds level 5 passes
